The University of Reading Debate Society was founded in 2005. Since then the society has gone from strength to strength with a string of determined Presidents.
Although relatively young the Debate Society is proud to be one of the most vocal student societies on campus, although we have not yet found if this makes us any friends.
Despite the reputation Debating is not just for Lawyers and for Politics students. The strength of the society relies on the fact we can appeal to all degrees and are relevant to all students on campus.
The skill of speaking confidently in front of others is a difficult one to learn but one we teach in a friendly atmosphere. This skill once obtained is invaluable.
Meeting are on Thursdays during term at 6:30pm in Palmer G03

The achievements of the society so far include winning an Inter Varsity competition at Bath 2007 and winning most developed Society 2006-07. But who knows what the future holds?
